Detecting and Removing Malware
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is a free malware scanner that is very effective for detecting and removing malware which may be slowing down your computer. This document will explain how to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to scan your system.
1. Check For Updates. After opening Malwarebytess' Anti-Malware click on the UPDATE tab.
2. Then click on the CHECK FOR UPDATES button.
3. When updates have finished, click on the SCANNER tab.
4. Running a Scan Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - Select Perform full scan and click Scan
5. Confirm which hard drives you want checked, for most people this will just be the C:\ drive. Then click Start Scan. MBAM will now perform a full system scan which may take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour to complete.
6. When the scan is complete... * Once you have run a full scan, and MBAM hasn't found any malware, you will see the window below. Click Okay.
7. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - Clean Scan * If MBAM has found malware, you will see something similar to the window below. Click on "OK" and then click on, "SHOW RESULTS".
8. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - Results Found Note, your results will most likely differ from the screen shot below. Make sure all of the infections are checked, then click Remove Selected. If prompted to reboot, do so. . A scan log will open. This contains the results of the scan.
